I think I am getting pretty good at writing once a week!!
Scott and I haven't felt a need in the past to give our kids a curfew but today we had to lay down the law! I don't think I have the energy to be a mom of teenagers! I don't have the stamina to stay awake all night waiting for them to return home. Both Emma and Tanner had different activities to attend last night. I thought Emma would be home around 10:30 but around 11:30 when she hadn't showed up I told Scott to call her and just then she actually called us. I heard Scott say no you can come home now and I could hear her trying to argue the point with Scott but he held firm and soon afterward she showed up. I had told Tanner earlier in the day that I wanted him home by 11:30 but as soon as Emma showed up I feel sound asleep and woke up in the morning and asked Scott if he knew if his son got home last night? He had the same answer that I did...we didn't know! I went into the kitchen and saw his shoes in the middle of the floor and therefore knew that he indeed had made it home but at what time??? When I talked to Tanner this morning about it he said he got home some time after midnight but didn't know what time for sure.
I remember thinking that when I was growing up that my mom and dad where dumb for giving me a curfew my dad use to tell me I had to be home by midnight, I use to beg and plead with him to let me stay out later and all he would say is there is nothing good that goes on after midnight therefore Krys you have to be home before that. I felt it so unfair because of course they allowed Gary Jr. to stay out much later. I still don't understand why Gary was allowed to stay out later when nothing good happens after midnight but now I understand that nothing good happens after midnight!!! Especially when the parents can't keep their eyes open after 11:30!
The weather has been so beautiful here in Minnesota!! For the last couple of days it has been close to 60 degrees! I am looking forward to a little sunshine...my mom thinks Elle and I are lacking in vitamin D I am not sure why I just remember she said so. I think the whole state of MN could use a little more D myself! We will probably get to Utah this week and then the weather will be terrible there and wonderful here :) Oh well we will feel like sunshine in our souls!

Hey, let us be clear:
When I say, "Mother, I was home at twelve-ish" that DOES NOT mean "I got home sometime after twelve but I am not sure when."
Rather, it means something more like "Mom, I got home fairly close to 12:00, but I cannot give you the specific second because I am not the dork who comes home and stairs at the clock so he can say 'I entered the door to this household at 12:09.31 AM on March 22nd.'" I am sorry Mother, but I am just not that guy.
Furthermore, you did not say "Be home at 11:30." Our conversation went a little like this:
Krys: "When will be home?"
Tanner: "How about when I usually come home?"
Krys: "OK, 11:00."
Tanner: "What? 11? Isn't that a bit early?"
Krys: "That is when most people come isn't?"
Tanner: "No, only one person in the group has a curfew of 11. Most people come home later than that."
Krys: "Ok, you should leave when most evrybody else does. So somewhere around 11:30?"
Tanner: "I will be home when everybody else starts to leave then."
And I did what I said I would do. In fact, I went beyond expecatations, leaving earlier than everybody else. (The afore mentioned 11 O'clocker excepted of course.) My actions were hardly suspect, as I told you what I was going to do, and they were not unusual, as you have let me stay out much, much later in the past. (Two seperate times I have been up until 2:00, right?)
Anyway, I think that if Emma was not already an hour late this would not have been a big deal at all. Alas, such is life!
P.S. Plus, you have no just squandered this family's ability to make Mormons look good. Just last night I was commenting on how not all Mormon parents are draconian wackos (the Eberhards, Whites, and Torres being the case study) as evidenced by my parents attitude towards curfews- I think I said something along the lines of "Yep, my parents trust me, and that is enough. As long as I am back at 12:00-ish, they are fine."
Kinda ironic, isn't?
so sorry Tanner I do trust you! You no longer have a curfew! Just try no to abuse that privilage and don't let emma know that you don't have a curfew any longer because I am afraid that she does still continue to need some guidlines.
The comments are better than the actual blogging! You're awesome T. Greer!
I do have to say though that curfews rock (I'll admit that opinion was formed after having children)!!
OK Mom, how about I make you a deal? Expect me home around 12:00, and I there is ever anything that might make come a minute later than 12:00, I will call. Does that sound like a good compromise?
