My thoughts have been wondering a lot lately. Like for instance why do my kids like Avatar? I have been watching it with Elle and I just don’t see why all three of my kids like that show. Also why don’t my kids like corn on the cob? It is very sweet and crunchy and yummy (I mean how could someone not like the way corn on the cob tastes?) And why does the tv show The Office make me laugh like no other show does and Scott never laughs about it? How come I can’t get my stupid skype dog avatar off and just have my face on the video screen? That one is really bugging me? Why do my girls think that cleaning their rooms could cause them to die?
I am grateful for the fun surprise birthday activity we have planned for Emma tomorrow...I love suprises!

Men..No Thank You
Women have you every had your boob pinched into a pancake? Well if not your turn will come when you become a woman of a certain age! It is so weird to be handled like that. At least it was a woman doing the handling, I was watching an old episode of The Office when Pam had a lactating consultant who helped her with her troubles of nursing and it was a male lactation consultant. It was really very funny but then I was thinking today as this woman was handling me like she was moving my elbow around instead of my boob and I thought if it was a man doing the moving how awful that would have been. I don't think men should be allowed to be a boob technician, ever!... even if women are allowed to be firewomen. There are just somethings that I don't want a strange man doing to me.
1. giving me a mamogram
2. giving me a bikini wax
3. or commenting on my mamogram or the result of my bikini wax!
I am grateful for medical technology, we live in an amazing time.

Young Love..oh it can be painful
I kept waiting to blog yesterday to see if anything interesting would happen in my life that I could blog about. Nothing ever happened it was just a really normal average day. Oh I forgot Elle did have some drama going on. She came home and asked me how I would feel if my best friend started going out with my X boyfriend! She was very passionate about her feelings. Her friend has started going out with her X (if you can call it that, actually her friend as started going out with a boy she had a crush on because she is not allowed a boyfriend at the age of 12!!! Right Scott?) Anyway I tried to tell her it was all right and Emma has told her it is alright but she doesn't seem to think it is alright. Oh well to be 12 again and feel like your best friend has stabbed you in the back with a dagger all for the sake of love.
I am grateful that Elle still likes to snuggle.

"I Vant To Drink Your Blood", said the Phlabotomist
What a beautiful day! I have gotten lots accomplished...I guess that is what happens when I actually get out of bed and not read all day. I had to go get some blood drawn today to check my cholesterol and there are a few people out there that know I am not a very good patient to try to get blood from (one time I even had to have blood drawn from my between my toes because my vains were so bad). Not because I am a baby or anything like that. No it is because no one can ever find a vain and so I end up getting poked several times by several people before I start to let the blood out of my body. Well the same thing happened today. I wanted to punch the lady in the face who was poking and prooding my vains. I almost threw up it hurt so bad. The bad, bad lady just didn't know what the heck she was doing and my arm now looks like I have been shooting up heroine or something! It just makes me want to throw up now just thinking about it again. Good thing I don't have to do this often!
I am grateful that I am healthy and don't have to spend much time with vampires!

Harry Potter is my Favorite!
Today was a Harry Potter day. It was a good day. I was able to stay in bed most of the day reading. I would like to read all 7 books before the new movie comes out this summer and I am 2 chapters from finishing book 3. I forgot how wonderful they were. I think they are so much better than the movies and I actually think the movies are the super duper! If you haven’t ever taken the time to read the series, and I am not sure who wouldn’t want read them, I highly recommend it.
I am wondering why my son didn’t skype me yesterday after he said he would the day before…I hope he is okay. Tanner did you forget your dear old mom and that phone call you promised her??
I am grateful for very entertaining books.

Sunday Blues because it is Grey and cold outside.
Not feeling like saying much today.
Emma and Elle both looked beautiful today. I love when they let me do their hair.
I am grateful for the girls.

The Grand Ball
Today Scott, Emma and I attended a grand ball! Destiny got married and instead of having a normal reception her invitation was to a Grand Ball just like in Cinderella or was it Sleeping Beauty or maybe it was The Little Mermaid?... So we got all dressed up in our spiffiest duds and went to the grand ball. It was lots of fun dancing with Scott (I think it has been ages since we danced I wonder why we don't dance more?) and watching everyone else dance as well as hanging out with my BFF Ann for a short while.
I had some really great bonding moments with Emma today as we went shopping for some summer clothes because didn't you all know Emma doesn't have anything to ware! The only arguing we did was over shoes so we decided that we wanted to have a good time and we wouldn't shop for shoes anymore and that did the trick. I think Emma is a really interesting person and I love to spend time with her.
I asked Scott to comment on my blogs daily and he said he would rather rub my feet daily instead of comment on my blog so I am very excited to get a foot rub every day for the rest of the year!!! Don't I just have the BEST husband ever!!
I am grateful for the time I had with Emma today.

Woman of a Certain Age!
Today I was told "You are now a woman of a certain age" what exactly does that mean? Can you guess just where I was when I was told that? I only thought that my mom was a woman of a certain age...never me! It is odd to think about how old I am. I remember clearly when my own mother became a woman of a certain age I believe that I was 19 and starting to fall in love with the man I would committ my life to as my mom started her journey into the woman of a certain age relm. I think I actually like being a woman of a certain age. I like having a sense of who I am and where I want to go which I know I didn't have a clue of who I was and where I wanted to go when I was 19. It is a good thing that as Scott and I have grown up together that we have continued to have the same goals and desires and we actually love who we have become otherwise our marriage would probably be in a shambles by now having married so young when we didn't know what the heck we were doing. I also love not caring as much what others think of me as I have grown into a woman of a certain age. I enjoy my kids more as I have become a woman of a certain age even though I love kids that are babies, toddlers, and young school aged I have enjoyed being a mom of older kids because I am more confident as a mother now. I have learned not to be so judgemental of others as I have grown into a woman of a certain age, I really try to see others as our Heavenly Father sees them and that has helped me to be more loving and compassionate in my life. Over all I am thrilled to have moved into the great "woman of a certain age" stage of my life and yes because I am a woman of a certain age I will be getting my second mamogram next week! Now who knows where I was today?
I am grateful for my talents, Heavenly Father blessed me with many!

The Weather was Beautiful today but tonight it was a Blizzard!
Emma said she didn't have homework but for some reason I don't believe her maybe it is because she has told me that a million times before and she always seems to have missing assignments in one class or another. It is going to be so fun homeschooling her next year...yes that is right I have decided to homeschool both girls next year...call me crazy, yes, call me out of my mind, definately! I am sure it will be the best of years and the worst of years all rolled into one!
Elle and I went and got DQ Blizzards tonight! YUMMY...so much for dragon woman today. At least I had a monster workout!!
I am grateful for so many things...icecream for one!

Dragon Woman Where Are You?
Lets see what can I blog about today? Oh yes that would be Emma! She was very happy tonight which is unusual for her on a Wednesday night. By the time Wednesday rolls around she is usually very tired out but tonight she had the energy to go for pie (free pie night at Bakers Square) it is where all the teenagers go every Wednesday night but she hasn’t gone for quite a while.
I had a great work out today and then I mowed the lawn afterwards. I bet I burned 1000 calories today. I wish it was as easy to lose weight as it was to gain it. I really need to recommit myself to dragon woman again so I can burn off another 15lbs. I have been very good about exercising but I have not been as vigilant about my eating habits. Don’t get me wrong…I am still being good (most of the time) about what I put into my mouth but I think unless I am counting calories and qualifying everything I put in my mouth then I won’t lose another 15lbs.
I am grateful for my Dad.

What has 16 years gotten me?...One beautiful daughter!
Emma is such a sweetheart. I love her. Her room stinks. Glee sucks. Emma doesn’t want me to talk about her but I can’t help it. Emma chokes on her own spit and she needs her eyebrows plucked badly! Emma is very tired and she just wants to go to bed. Emma heard that the movie Kick*** was stupid and she thinks I should spell out the swear part of that word because she doesn’t think my readers will know what the stars mean but I told her that my readers are very smart people and you all know what swear word that they represent. Emma wants a concrete shake from Culvers and I do too.
This is my blog about Emma week in honor of her 16th birthday coming up. I can’t believe that Emma has been in my life for 16 years…! Wow what a wonderful daughter she has been. I wish sometimes that I could go back and see her sucking her two fingers and doing the cute things that 2 year olds do but alas that is not how it works and everyone grows up and turns into a teenager! One time someone asked me if I was afraid to have Emma grow up into a teenager because they thought she was a very "bossy and I am the center of the universe" type of toddler but I thought that was a very odd comment at the time. It has proven to be very wrong...Emma has been a very sweet and kind teenager (really).
I am grateful for the opportunity to be Emma's mom.

Life is calling...get up and get something done today!
Today is the beginning of a fresh new week! Back from all my adventures of traveling around the world…(okay just Chicago but still) I find myself trying to get motivated to get something done today! I have piles of laundry to do and grocery shopping to perform and exercising to work my body and kids to pick up from school and transport all over the place and bills to pay and head colds to fight and a Relief Society calling to bring me back to real life. I guess everyday can’t be a vacation…unless you live Tanners life (in Hawaii)…right Tanner? Now I know why you aren’t excited about coming home for 6 weeks this summer. Who can blame an 18 year old kid for wanting to stay in Hawaii instead of coming back to Minnesota? But your mother is very, very, very excited to have you back in her life for that short time…I am counting down the days…let’s see it is about 45 days until I get to see that great son of mine! Now I need to mention Emma…because she gets very jealous when I blog about the oldest and youngest (she feels very left out). Emma, Emma, Emma…what can I say except…I love you! I am feeling very jealous of you for leaving for Europe in 2 more months!! I wonder if the volcano in Greenland will be asleep by then or if you will even be flying over there because it seems that a little volcano can sure disrupt the airlines in that country that you are planning on exploring! We will keep our fingers crossed that the volcano has gotten out all that anger before it is your turn to explore the world!
I forgot to be grateful in my last blog so I am going to make up for it by being extra grateful for my family…I can’t wait to have one last summer with my kids and Scott before Tanner leaves on his mission and his life and our family’s life changes forever!

Chicago...gotta love that town!
Good times in Chicago!
Once upon a time in a far away land...
Scott, Elle and Krystine had an adventure!
Once upon a time in a far away land...
Scott, Elle and Krystine had an adventure!
We happened upon a beautiful lake called Lake Michigan and boy was it big.
Elle experienced eating in her first Pub and boy did she like her veggie burger.
...then we went to one of the most amazing museums in the world call the Field Museum of Chicago. We were able to explore many worlds in one building...Elle's favorite places were Egypt then Africa Scott loved the Ancient Americas and Krystine loved the people! Now Elle wants a pet camel...I told her no of course.
Elle espeically loved her first taxi ride.
Elle hanging out with some Egyptian thing what it is I don't know exactly.
The weather was beautiful on our adventure but we didn't prepare for the chilly wind.
Scott was a great travel guide on Elle's first trip to the windy city.
After our spending many hours in the grand museum we took a water taxi over to the Navy Pier.
After dinner and many more hours looking at cheerleaders and prom dates and enjoying a stain glass exhibit we all took a trip up 150 ft in the sky to enjoy an evening on the farris wheel. Elle didn't care if her mom is afraid of heights.
Even though there is a smile on both our faces we were wondering when we were going to get off the top of the farris wheel.
This picture captures Elle's personality so well.
Our trip ended happily ever after...
The End.
The End.

Chicogo here we come!
I am so looking forward to going out of town with Scott and Elle. We are leaving for Chicogo later today! I hope I don't come home to a house that looks like there hasn't been a mom in but that is very wishful thinking. I will be blogging while on my little adventure so look for pictures and stories to come!
I am grateful for Ann who is taking care of Emma while we are gone! Thank you!!

I just want some zzzzzz's
Why is it sometimes I can't sleep? I haven't had this problem for a very long time but tonight it is a big problem. Perhaps it is because I have been naping everyday. Today I will not nap and see if I can get a little bit more tired for the real time I should be going to bed. But for now 1:58 am I will lay here and listen to Scott moan and snore and breath weird next to me and hope that I find it boring enough to doze off myself. My eyes are heavy and sleepy but my brain is not sleepy at all. It keeps thinking about stuff, dumb stuff. Like that I have a pile of dishes in my sink that I need to wash or the package I told Abby I would send off to her a few days ago or that my vacuum is broken and I wish I had a brand new one because it has broke now like 5 times this past year and Elle was mad at me when she went to bed will she still be mad at me when she wakes up in the morning and I didn't go work out on Tuesday will I have the energy to do it today because it really bothers me that I didn't work out on Tuesday and I just ate an icecream bar (skinny cow) but it was 1:30 am in the morning and that is not good (even if it is a skinny cow) and ...and...and ...see it is all just dumb stuff. HELP!
I am grateful I have a computer I can blog with at 2:00am in bed.

Just another Manic Tuesday...wish it were Friday!
Tuesday. What can I say about a beautiful Tuesday in April? I don't have a lot going on in my life today. It was nice to just chill and sleep in after everyone went off to school and work because I actually am not feeling well today. I feel like I have a head cold coming on but the odd thing is I have felt this way for 3 days now. It is not getting worse or better. I wish it would decide to just leave. That is why I keep justifing my naps for the last three days. I just know if I can get some good rest then my cold will hit that wall and just leave me. Who knows maybe it would be a lot worse if I wasn't taking my get over my cold naps! I just don't have very much energy though and my head aches.
We are taking a little trip this weekend! Scott is taking Elle and I to Chicogo. Emma would rather stay home and have interatctions with other teenagers (especially ones from Italy)! She will realize in 10 years just how silly that was to stay home and socialize with other kids instead of going to Chicogo (I am sure in 10 years she won't even remember his name!) But Elle and I are way excited to explore the great metropolis of the windy city. I hope Elle is always excited to go exploring with me. Emma has never been an explorer. Emma is really just a home body ( I think that is because she doesn't like to leave her dogs behind). Maybe after Emma's trip to Europe this summer she will catch the explorer bug and want to see the rest of the world even if it is just 6 hours away!
I am grateful for my hair straightener. Without it I would look like Madussa espeically when I go to bed with wet hair!

Trials and what else starts with V??
Life is always full of challenges. We are taught that there is opposition in all things however else would we be able to feel happiness if we haven't also experienced saddnes or health when our bodies haver never had to fight off illness or injury. Sometimes our challenges are small sometimes they are huge. I have learned through experience that all things can be to our good if we let them teach us and then learn always to deal with trials with a positive attitude. That is not so easily done when you are in the moment of your trial. Sometimes we need to take challenges one moment at a time (when I was pregnant that is how I made it through many days was by little moments) isn't that how all of life is lived though, by moments? I hope that we can all strive to live our lives in the moment whether we are experiencing great triumphs or sore trials. I hope that my kids can see their mom living a happy life even though things are not perfect. I hope Scott knows that I love him more then anything in this world even though he didn't give me 100 complements this weekend. (Although he did complement how soft my skin was!) I love my family that are far away from me living in Utah. I have the best parents who love unconditionally (as parents should) and my sisters are the best friends I could aks for. I have two brothers who work hard and love me too. Even with trials My life is blessed.
I am grateful for Finley. She is my little friend and she brought laughter to my day.
I love little kids!
(I was talking to Finley about the letter V and I told her that van started with V and she told me that Viagra started with V! She is 5 years old)

This is my place...where is yours?
Some days are filled with anxiety and this evening seems to be one of them. I know exactly why I have the bad case of the jitters and feel a tightening of my stomach but I guess I just need to learn to relax and work my way through it.
If I have just 5 minutes to meditate....I just imagine that I am sitting on a private beach with the cool ocean breeze blowing through my hair it is not to hot or cold just the perfect temperature 80 degrees. I can't hear anyone talking or other white noise. I am all by myself wearing a big sun hat, with comfy shorts and a big oversized shirt I am laying on a reclining chair listening to the waves as they rush onto the beach time after time in a rhythm that the birds dance to. I am able to focus on the smell of the air as I take deep, slow breaths it is fresh, clean and a little salty. The wind that surrounds my skin and hair feels cool and smooth as it hits me lightly. It is so serene and I feel peace in my whole body. I am not afraid of anything I only feel calm. As I feel the cool sand between my toes, I look out over the blue water and the white foam of the waves that are created as the water hits the beach as the suns sets the colors of the sky are a vivid pink, orange, red and blue. It is so beautiful and relaxing. No phones, TV, computers, kids, people with problems, or the outside world...just me and my stillness no other cares in the world...I love this place!
There...that is much better.
This is my calm happy place where I find peace. Where is your calm place?
I am grateful for the walk Scott and I took tonight.

There is beauty all around...when there's no more snow!
I feel happy. I think it is because the weather is beautiful. I didn't use to love spring until we moved here. Now I am so happy once it begins to thaw and I can hear the birds sing. It is a very long winter in Minnesota...good thing I like the winter or we would be in a whole lot of trouble!
I am grateful for the beauty of the earth that was created for us all by a loving Heavenly Father and His Son.

The Smell that Just Won't go Away!
Okay it is Thursday and since Monday I have been smelling a yucky fishy smell coming from my kitchen. We ate scallops for dinner on Sunday and so I thought I would take care of the problem and throw the garbage out on Monday! Problem taken care of right?...Wrong. So on Monday night we ate my yummy crab cakes and Tuesday morning I still smelled an awful fishy smell coming from my kitchen. I thought I needed to run my garbage disposal perhaps there was food left over in the sink that wasn't washed away. Problem taken care of right?...Wrong. So on Tuesday evening I threw the garbage out again and looked in the fridge to see if I could see any left overs that were airing out their problems in my fridge, I threw out some leftovers that I thought might be the culprit. Problem taken care of right?....Wrong. Wednesday I left open all the windows hoping to air out the smell that decided to live in our house that just wouldn't go away. Problem taken care of right?...Wrong. Here we are Thursday. I finally had to take drastic measures mainly because Scott told me he wouldn't come home tonight if it still stunk in our house...oh how I love Scott and I want him to WANT to come home after a long hard days of work and plus the smell in my kitchen was beginning to make me want to throw up! I did the only thing there was left to do...if this didn't work then we were going to have to move...to Wisconsin! And we really didn't want to have to do that.
Stinky Fridge
All food taken out of fridge...can you spy the dew pyramid, whipcream, 3 lemons,
or 5 boxes of cream cheese.
I found the culprit! Scallop juice on the first top shelf (it is clear juice so I couldn't see it but boy did it stink!)
Nice clean fridge (and thank goodness we don't have to move to Wisconsin)
The End...moral of this story...I don't know.
I am grateful that my husband came home tonight!

I live a hard life...NOT!
Another hump day. I have had a another great day. This should be illegal. I think I live the perfect life. I am not trying to brag or boast but Heavenly Father has blessed me with so much that I feel very lucky to have my life. I had a great time working out and doing some relief society assignments this morning and then taking Elle to Emma's school so she could help her in one of her speech assignments. It was great watching the girls act out a scene from Legally Blonde they both did a great job. After which we ran Emma to work and then Elle and I stopped by Burger King to get Elle some fries. They were perfect fries until Elle dropped the bag on the car floor and they all spilled out on our dirty floor (5 second rule does not work when the floor of the car has gone through a Minnesota winter). Elle was so mad! I took her to Shopko to buy a baby gift and then afterwards we went to a new place were Elle ordered some cheese curds. This time none of them found there way to the floor but instead they all managed to enter Elle's mouth and boy did she enjoy them! Elle helped me deliver some cookies to a couple of families in the ward that could use them and then off to home to make dinner. After making dinner I went to pick up some neighbor kids from daycare because their mom was unable to pick them from daycare on time (happy to do that one!). I told you I had a great day!! It is still not over...American Idol night at Anns!!!
I am grateful to be a mom!

should I get up today?
11:30 am Half way through my day.....6:50 am I got up this morning to do Elle’s hair (it looked very cute). I then ran Emma to school (we both sleep through our alarms and so we both slept through seminary 2 days in a row…spring break was good to us). After I got back home I talked with Scott for a few minutes before he ran off to work while I had a yummy bowl of sugar free oatmeal. After starting a load of wash and checking my calendar I crawled back into bed and read my scriptures…I love reading my scriptures and then read NieNie Dialogs for a while (wonderful blog I highly recommend it to anyone if you are not already hooked) by 9:30 am I was still laying in bed and decided to close my eyes because I could. Two hours later and a dream that I peed my pants which woke me checking my bum (thank goodness I did not pee my bed this time) I lay in bed not wanting to get out. It looked dark and dreary outside through the window in my bedroom (the blind has a hard time reaching the bottom without a lot of coaxing so I always have a 1 inch view of the outside world). I could also hear cars driving by on a wet road which told me it was raining or recently had rained. But I am going to be motivated to get up because my body wants to go work out. I need to do some RS visiting this afternoon and pick up Elle and her loud crew from school (I wonder what kind of mood she will be in today…yesterday it was not good) and then run Emma to work after her long day at school. Dinner to make and a husband to care for this evening. Oh let’s not forget the kitchen cleaning I need to do another day of washing 26 glasses. My day is actually just beginning! Thank goodness I closed my eyes for 2 hours this morning!
I am grateful for NieNie Dialogs she inspires me!

My very uninspirering view this morning. I had to find my inspiration somewhere else.
Waking up after my morning nap. I hope we all look so good!

Spring is Here!
Elle and Emma had fun playing dress up, Oh sorry Elle just told me they weren't playing they were "modeling". The girls are always finding ways to entertain themselves...that is how it should be.
I am grateful for my cooking ability! My family should be grateful too!
My first attempt at crab cakes...they were yummy!

Lazy Daze of Summer are almost here!
I can't wait for summer! It has been beautiful weather here in Rochester MN. A perfect Easter Sunday. Spring break was nice because I didn't have to ask the kids if they have homework or tell them to go to bed early. That is why I can't wait for summer...I need a break from school and if I need a break from school I know the girls probably feel even more ready for school to be over. I love having the kids around me and spending time with them and the freedom that summer brings. I don't remember ever looking forward to summer more in a long time.
I am grateful for my girls they are great sisters to each other.

Best Prank...sweet buns!
April Fools!! Sweet Buns! Okay have you ever seen Scott ticked at 7 am in the morning? Well I have. I put honey on the toilet seat last night before going to bed knowing Scott would be the first to sit this morning. Oh My Gosh…it was classic hysterical!! Scott ran into the bathroom to do his business and two minutes later was in our room yelling at me that his butt just got stuck to the seat and what the HELL did those girls put on the toilet seat?? He was so mad it was hilarious. I then told him it wasn’t his darling daughters that did it but that it was his sweet wife and it was some sweet honey that he had sat on! APRIL FOOLS SCOTT! Oh did I already say he was mad? I know I will have it coming right back at me but it was worth it. After his shower he had calmed down some and washed the honey off his rear he could appreciate the humor of my joke and he gave me a kiss goodbye as he and his sticky buns left for work!
I also had the most amazing massage today! Thanks BFF. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have an amazing massage therapist as a best friend everyone in the world should have one of those!
I am grateful for great friends.

I didn't want to put to much honey on the seat incase Scott noticed it...so just a little will do as we found out this morning!
Happy Wednesday!
Middle of the week and one day closer to the weekend! I am looking forward to this weekend I think because it is general conference and Easter all rolled into one. I Love Easter and what it celebrates but I dislike the Easter Bunny with a passion. When my kids were little the Easter Bunny use to stop by our house on Friday night so my kids could get their Easter basket on Saturday morning. My kid’s friends never understood why the Easter bunny would drop off their basket on Friday night and not Saturday night like the rest of them. I am so glad I don’t have to worry about that anymore.
Today Elle and some friends went swimming at the hotel. I took a nice little nap on the lounge chairs. Elle told me she was just like me afterwards. I asked how so. She said she meet a girl at the pool who was all alone and started asking her questions to make her feel comfortable. I do like to make people feel comfortable when they are around me and asking them questions and learning about them is one of the ways in which I do that. It is interesting to me that Elle has taken notice of that and she felt like she was doing what I would have done.
I am grateful for the beautiful weather.

I lightened Emma's hair a couple of days ago and she doesn't seem to think there is a difference. This is the before picture and the one below is after.
I think their is a difference she went from light brown to honey blonde.
