I thought that would get your attention Allison! I am glad I didn't disappoint you sister of mine. I am rather tired and out of steam for today. We had a great birthday with Elle (she went through so many mood swings today I wasn't sure I would survive her 13th birthday). Emma is home safe and sound with lots of great stories to share with the family. I will have the time and energy to write more tomorrow but for now just know it feels wonderful to have all three of my children back under my roof and safely tucked into bed!
I am grateful for the joy of family.

Where do you want to live?
What to blog about?? I am going to reupholster my chair. I have been looking for a project to do this summer and actually almost decided to do it this spring but I wasn't quite in the mood at that time. But now I am. I will begin on Monday. By then I will have my camera back and I will take pictures along the way of my project.
Scott and I were talking this morning about the top 3 places we would like to live if we could live anywhere (in the U.S.)
Scott's list is:
Rochester MN
Spokane WA
Greatfalls MT
My list is:
Rochester MN
Oakley UT
Durango CO
The really great thing about our list is that we are already living in our top city!! We love Rochester. I wish that the kids loved it as much as us. Tanner and Elle say that they dislike cold winters and Emma doesn't really have a reason except that she is that way. I love these three cities because of their beauty and Rochester is at my top because I love the people of Minnesota (there really is such a thing as Minnesota Nice).
I am grateful for the opportunity to live in Rochester.

Finally....some much needed relief!
It has gone on almost two weeks without an air conditioning but finally the day arrived when all the planets aligned, the stars sparkled a little brighter and the birds were all doing their mating dance because (insert heavenly music here) our air conditioner is now blowing out the most wonderful freezing cold non humid air!!! It was so hot and sticky in our house last night that Scott took Elle and I to the hotel to get a good night sleep. (Tanner thought we were being a bit redick and so opted to stay home and care for the dogs while Elle and I watched the movie Babies on the hotel movie channel. The babies were so cute. I liked the one from Japan the best and Elle liked the baby from Mongolia the best but they were all really adorable).
Elle and I got up early this morning because we needed to take Oreo to the vet to get his teeth cleaned. They put the dogs completely under to do dental work. ( I think that I might go to the vet next time I have work done on my teeth at least I know I won't have any memory of pain to blog about that way!) We then drove around ALOT in our air conditioned car because I didn't want to spend a lot of time at home in the heat. We had a great day spending our time aimlessly driving around out in the country. It was beautiful, I mentioned to Elle how much I love Minnesota because of all the rolling green hills and she then said she hated all the green and wished that there was a place that had lots of black because that is her favorite color. I love Elle.
We also ate out one last time tonight because I couldn't stand to cook in my hot kitchen. We have eaten out since last Friday.
Friday night ~ El Co rumbas (Mexican)
Saturday night ~ Skyline in Lake City (seafood)
Sunday night ~ Ann's house with the missionaries (that was suppose to be our house but Ann so generously took pity on the Greer's and allowed us to bring the food and crowd to her house so we didn't have to all melt in the heat of our kitchen! I love Ann)
Monday night ~ Little Cesar (Pizza)
Tuesday night ~ Ann's house with the missionaries again!!!
Wednesday night ~ Subway (sandwiches)
I have been spoiled for the last few nights but I actually would have traded any of those meals (except my date night with Scott on Saturday and the dinners at Ann's cause there is nothing better then friends who love you) for a nice cool kitchen to cook in!
I am grateful for many things this night...a cool air conditioned home for one and great memories with Elle...and the thought that Emma will be home soon...and a husband who wishes his wife would cook a meal but understands that there is just no way...and Tanner for just being home!
I took a 10 minute nap today and because I took that nap I missed Emma's phone call :( that will teach me not to take naps!

Knock, knock...who's there at 6am?
Tuesday July 6th is off to a great start! Scott and I were woken up at 6 am with a ding dong at the front door. Who in their right mind would come to our house that early in the morning and expect a welcome and smile from two very tired half naked old people? (Scott and I are sleeping half naked...remember no air conditioning will do that to a person...it had nothing to do with what you are all thinking right now!) As Scott is the man of the house he went to the door and let me continue to be sweaty and hot in bed. It was a policeman! He was informing us that someone who the caught had broken into our Durango during the night. The culprit was apprehended and was spilling all the beans about who in the neighborhood he had ripped off! So Scott proceeded to tell the very nice officer what was in our car and low and behold all the missing items were in the nice officers trunk! Good thing we really don't keep valuables in our car (at least not last night)...Bad thing is that I didn't lock the Durango because they didn't touch anything in the van because Scott had locked it. (He had all our golf clubs in the van heaven fore bid that those got stolen!!) So now I have learned a good lesson. Always lock your cars and houses...you never know when they will just come right in the door and take your lap top off the kitchen table (that's right were it was sitting in plain view last night).
I forgot to admit that I took a nap yesterday. I feel like it was a very well deserved nap after getting up at 6am to help the High Priests cook 4th of July breakfast for the ward. I guess it is highly unusual to have a female in the kitchen helping for this activity, no less then 8 men asked me what I was doing. What I was doing was supporting my husband in his calling...he asked me to come and help and I was happy to do that (heaven only knows how many times I have wrangled Scott into babysitting the nursery group for Enrichment night so the women can enjoy an evening without their children hanging all over them) I figured it was about time Scott needed a little help with an assignment. The other men were not so happy about it though. Scott was very happy and grateful though so it was all worth it. So that brings me to my nap. I came home at 11am from a morning of cooking for 250 people and it was already sweltering in our house so I once again undressed down to the G's and laid down. Soon I was asleep. It was wonderful to awake 3 hours later and feel refreshed and looking forward to an evening with Scott and the kids.
I am grateful for policemen who keep me safe and put their lives on the line every time they work.
P.S. no nap today (yet) but I am going to do my best to not take one. All I needed was Tanner to come home and cure me of my napping habit!

a sweaty 5th of July
Have I mentioned that we don't have air conditioning in the past? Well let me mention it again. We don't have a working air conditioner and it has now been more then a week! The weather for the last 4 or 5 days have been unbearably humid and hot. Well I don't know if some of you would consider 90 degrees hot but here in Minnesota we do consider 90 degrees to be hot when you throw the humidity on top of that then it feels sweltering. The guy who is fixing the air conditioner had to order a part and then he went out of town for the holiday weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem when he told us on Wednesday (it was not so humid that day) but each day has brought more humidity and a feeling in my house that everything is sticking together. I hand wash my bras and even those are not able to air dry in a day like they always do. All my bras are hanging in my shower waiting to get dried. I guess I will have to throw them into the dryer if I want to wear a bra tomorrow and I think that is something Scott would want me to do when I go take a golf lesson tomorrow (even though I love to go bra less!)
I am grateful for a relaxing day.

My Country Tis of Thee
I love this country! I am so grateful to be born in this country and have the freedoms that I enjoy because of the sacrifices that so many in the past have given.

Scandalous Behavior!
The end of a great day and I find myself blogging. I got up early today to get some "stuff" done around the house. We still don't have our aircontioning working and it was feeling hot inside the house by 10 am this morning. Hopfully it will be fixed by this Tuesday since the guy who owns the house and will be repairing it is out of town until then. So until that time I will just have to bare it. While we have been suffering in the sweltering heat I have been thinking about those that lived during a time when there was no airconditioning. I am not sure how they handled living and working in heat like that because all I want to do is lay on my bed half naked (in my G's) and do nothing while the fan blows on me. I don't think people back in the 1900's could just lay around half naked (not really half naked but it seems like I am half naked) without it being scandalous. I feel so lucky to be born durinng a period of time when there are so many conviniences.
Seriously what in the heck did people do without:
1. microwaves
2. telephones
3. cars
4. computers
5. airplanes
6. deoderant
7. braces
8. indoor plumming
9. ice/cold drinks
10. tampons/pads that "stick" to your underware
11. and finally AIRCONDITIONING
I am grateful for the superb golf date that Scott took me on tonight! I bet him on like 4 drives!! (that is really good for me)

I am grateful for the freedom I have as a citizen of the United States. God Bless America!

Lazy as a dog
Scott asked me to stop telling him that I am so tired tonight. I mentioned it probably 7 times at dinner and felt like closing my eyes and falling asleep right then and there! So I told Scott I wouldn't bring it up again to him but that doesn't mean I can't blog about it now. So....I am very tired tonight! I think my Eclipse movie night is catching up with me finally. I haven't had a chance to take a nap during the day because things keep coming up unexpectedly (right Valeri!). Oh well I guess I would rather feel tired then be as a lazy dog and sleep during the day and then not be able to go to bed at night.
I am grateful for Tanner's feet he is having me massage them right now and that means he is home with me!
